good art is art that during the Renaissance time artists painted! Michelangelo, Da Vinci as well as Raphael as excellent examples of good art! they are the kind of art that people want to see, apppreciate, where time was put into it, where there is always a theme, where the colors and techniques start to vary with the change of time and where one actually look at a painting and interpret what he or she sees because it looks so realistic and human like! the good art has high expectations and none the less, and take Michelangeo and the Sistine Ceilin and compare that to Picasso-not that i have something against him! Michelangelo shows expressions, emotion, light, darkness, did a fresco on the cupola of a chapel as well as had a theme for it and nailed it! everything when you look at it seems in its place, as though realistic, the colors vibrant yet pastel, the themes changing and the mystery is still there. Picasso on the other hand as well as other modern artists consider art taking some paint and throwing it on the canvas or making copies of the mona lisa face multiple times in color! i call that a kid's work because i can give my brother and his friends some paint and canvas and they could come up with the same stuff the so called artists come up with the same things or even better! art in todays society especially good art is what Europeans have in their museums such as the Louvre and D'Orsay and at Versailles too! that is art, good art to be more specific since it is not something done in a hurrty but rather with sophistication and with class! that is what sets the two arts apart: good art has more class to it while the modern art does not and yes art art defined by the society and their standards as always!
Art created for a dictator has only one purpose: it is to present the dictator's policies in such a way as to impress or seduce the viewer into accepting them. In a free society, art has many purposes (or no purpose at all), self-expression being one of the main ones. Propaganda art is often inferior in artistic values and creativity--look at some of the crap that was produced in Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia. This is not always the case, as you would see in the revolutionary and Napoleonic paintings of David. But the artistry in these cases is always secondary to the propaganda. Also, you almost never get anything daring and new in propaganda art.
there is such a thing as bad and good art forms. today, many people think of art as being very open ended as if everying is good and it is only up to the persons taste. it is rather subjective, but good art is the product of an artist being aware of the marks, sounds, movements, ect. also, a TRUE artist (not just a craftman) has developed a sense of self-awareness compared to his/her environment. these artists do the best they can for the sake of the work. when some one pairs great technical skill with idiosyncracy, they have made a good piece of art. look up Henry Williams for music and jacob collins for visual art.
Hello! I'm a student at AAU and here's about as much as I know: New Media is part of the Computer Arts school, so you're going to learn more about web design and web graphics. You'll probably learn programs like Photoshop, Flash, After Effects Fireworks, Dreamweaver, etc. and probably some basic HTML, CSS, etc. Graphic Design is more traditional arts based, where you'll learn the principals of design and stuff like typology, calligraphy, print and package design. You can always change your major if you end up liking one more than the other. You can probably even float between the two and still be a graphic designer, but learn the tools of the new media trade.
You might try looking at the Gifts in Kind (GIK) website and see if your needs coincide with their programs. They are an international organization matching corporate gifts to needy causes. My daughter worked for them about ten years ago and found them to be a reliable and honest charitable organization. If they don't match with your needs maybe you'll get ideas for other needy organizations in your area that do seem to match and you can lead them in GIK's direction, benefiting the community and enriching you a bit, too.
the poem the midnight ride of paul revere by henry wadsworth longfellow and the painting of paul revere's ride by grant wood check out the bottom of the page on the poem link-it gives the historical details

Actual, pure art is not for a certain purpose. It's purpose is different depending on who is experiencing the art. Art is an expression open to any and all interpretation. It cannot be recycled or altered. It just is. Its alive.
You can hang the certificate on the wall like we do in my country.
you have to check their website, also what program are you applying for, fine art, interior design, architecture etc? If you can't find the info on their website phone them. They do offer portfolio review days if you live close enough sign up for one. Rest assured, the majority of people applying will come straight from highschool so you all have a level playing field. Commonly they look for a variety of techniques and subjects, usually a self portrait should be included.
Hello, I'll make this short and simple like the Art of Kenpo Karate. I have studied Martial Arts for more then 35 years now and for the past ten years I have been learning and teaching Kenpo. Kenpo is a very devastating self defense system. Just check out some demos on youtube.com or do an engine search for in depth information. Enjoy and good luck with your training. (77)
Online website design boomed in this period. Very current and topical as well. That should get you started.
Hey, I don't want to insult your spirit as an artist, but are you talking about what's selling in the art world right now? I'm a professional artist and if you want to know what is SELLING go to the library and look at the magazines like Architectural Digest, Veranda, Colonial Homes, Southern Living, Decor, etc. It's crass, it's selling out, but if you want to make a living at what you love best - making art - you'd better do what the Renaissance masters did - and find out what the rich folks are buying.
Nonobjective is more of a free form..there can be shapes that suggest certain objects, but are abstracted or, not (entirely) life like. Literal art will be as life like as possible.

As far as i know you could both have problems. The construction industry has peaked and builders and other construction workers are signing on the unemployment register in rising numbers and likely to get worse with housing market glutted with unsold houses. My son who left the local community college six years ago never had art as part of his curriculum during his entire school life. There are a few jobs for art teachers but these are few and far between and rarely in the sector you are interested. Hope i havnt put you off too much.Alan in Co. Roscommon
Try an education school that also has a strong music program. I know that finding out which schools have strong music programs can be difficult, but peruse their sites, and, even if you don't know the band director at your school very well, ask him or her about it, or just ask some other people in your school who are involved in the music department and who might be thinking about majoring in music. I don't know what area of the country you're from, but Miami University in Ohio is good, as well as Wright State. If you're really good, consider looking in Texas or at the University of Michigan. There's always Bowling Green or Ohio University as well.
Best to use EBay for the online part. Here's an EBay auction course: http://www.auctiontips.com/ebay-course/ebay-auction-course.html There are many others...
Contemporary Art is generally considered anything within the last 60 years (since World War II). Modern Art is anything within the last 400 years.
